The last couple of weeks or more, I started a new habit of reading the bible every morning. I found an app that reads aloud and I get the text along with it.

Often, I have thought to myself that I should sit and read the bible from cover to cover, and sadly, I’ve never made the time to do so. I’m ashamed that is the truth. When I look at my bookshelves, and see all of the other books I have read, it shows what I’ve prioritized, over the word of God.

So, I’m in a good place and habit now, and going to rededicate time to a morning prayer as well. I pray and share:

Good Morning Father God,

Thank You for waking me up this morning to spend time in Your Word. Thank You for giving me enough days on earth to finally dedicate myself to reading the bible from cover to cover.

I ask Your forgiveness for the things I have prioritized over reading Your Word. Please release me from the shame and embarrassment that up until now, I’ve never been dedicated to reading the bible.

You are indeed a kind, loving and patient God. Thank You for never giving up on me and by chasing after me. The words of the song, Reckless Love by Cory Ashbury come to mind; “Oh the overwhelming, never ending reckless love of God, Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine. I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still You give Yourself away, Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah.

Thank You Father for Your reckless love; Amen.
