The last few days, I have been in the home of my youth spending time with my mom. She’s got some health issues going on and I need to spend some time with her.
It’s a complicated and emotional time as you see a loved ones years catch up with them. I’m not sure I can do it justice to speak to that, nor maybe am I ready?
Today, I pray for all who age and who grow weary and I pray for all who care for them.
Dear Heavenly Father,
First of all, I thank You and pray for our new Pope. I feel blessed that I was sitting with my mom as the new Pope was announced and I was able to watch it all with her. Bless our new Pope with humility, grace, wisdom and all the virtues necessary to carry our Your will for him, and our holy church. Bring him peace, love mercy and bless all of his days.
I also pray for all who are aging and feeling the fruits of their years. I pray that You bless them with faith, strength and hope as their bodies age and decline. It can’t be easy to know that your eyes, your ears, your strength, stamina and memory are not what they once were. Help them to find peace and Your grace as they age. Let them not fear but be comforted by Your Holy Spirit.
Also, bless their loved ones with a full heart and kind words. Help them to provide comfort and strength in the face of difficult times. Today, I ask for myself, the ability to care and comfort my mother and to help her as she ages and advances in years.
In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray and ask these things, Amen.
