Pray, Reflect and Be Patient

Happy New Year to all. I pray this morning for all of the hope, optimism and enthusiasm the new year can bring. It really is a great time of year to start and create some new habits, thought processes and spiritual practices to improve us, and our lives going into the new year. This morning I pray for us all to make the best of the new year.

Dear Father God, thank You for bringing all of us into the new year. Please continue to keep watch over us, keep us healthy and bless our lives.

I ask that You guide our thoughts, ideas and aspirations in the days ahead. It is really easy to make big, bold and lofty claims and goals on day one or two, and not really have a plan going forward. Let us pray and seek Your wisdom and guidance on our goals for the new year. As we make plans, guide us to create steps and goals along the way to ensure we are making progress. Give us grace and strength when our progress slows, our enthusiasm wains and resolve fades.

Lastly, let our goals and aspirations for the new year be guided by You and Your will. Too often, left to my own desires and selfishness, my goals are mostly about and for me. Touch my heart as I make plans to include others in my goals. How can I be a better friend this year, a better son or daughter, a better mom or dad, a better church member, a better employee at work. Help us to improve and grow, as You would have us grow.

I’m really full of excitement, joy and hope for the new year. Keep that hope alive and help us have a blessed and wonderful new year. In the Mighty Name of Jesus we pray and ask these things, Amen.
