More Than Enough 12-28-2024

This morning as I sit and pray and reflect, my mind wandered to what I want and need. I came to the realization that I want a lot more than I need.

I took a minute to track my morning steps and look at what I already have. My sock drawer is full of more socks than I need. The refrigerator is full of more food than I need, as is the pantry and the cupboards. My bookshelves are full of more books than I need, as is the cable system full of more channels than I need.

Once I look at what I have more than enough of already, my “want” list gets a little smaller. I pray and share;

Dear Father God,

Help me to constantly seek to be full of thanks and gratitude at what I already have. Let me start with the people, family and relationships that I already have. The security of love and friendships, the security of a safe and warm home, the security of enough money to keep the bills paid, the lights on and the furnace working.

Help me to spend as much time, thanks and praise in what I already have, verses what more I might want. Help me to resist the always more message from the world. Help me to spend more time in praise, recognition and thanksgiving than browsing through the constant barrage of adds encouraging me to want more.

Thank You Father for the way You have abundantly blessed me. Help to always to be grateful and generous to those in need. In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray; Amen.
