Merry Christmas 12-25-2024

Dear Father God,

Thank You for gifting my family, friends, loved ones and myself another Christmas morning to cherish and celebrate. Help us to always long for You and to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Over the past few days, I have paid a lot of attention to the Bible reading and verses surrounding the days and day of Jesus birth. Help these stories and reading penetrate my heart and bring understanding and joy.

This day, two main thoughts guide my prayers. First I focus on is the humility of Jesus. I pray on the words of Isaiah, as Jesus is described…..”and He will be called, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” And yet, Jesus was born in a manger. He was not warm, safe, comfortable and pampered. Mary and Joseph were all alone as well in such a humble place. Jesus was not celebrated with a lot of pomp and pageantry, rather he was visited by the shepherds of the fields caring for their flocks.

Also, I focus on the verse from Matthew; “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Both of these verses remind me and call me toward a more focused life of humility and service. Today we celebrate the birth of the perfect example of both humility and service. Please bless me with the wisdom, grace and courage to follow in Jesus footsteps. Please call me back to the path when I veer away from humility and service. Let this Christmas day always act as a catalyst and reminder toward service to You and dedication to follow the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus we pray and ask these things; Amen.
