Let It Go

Normally, I sleep like a baby and when I wake up, I can fall back to sleep in a wink. But, last night was kind of an exception to that normal. I woke up way early, and my mind was in a mood to play and to rehash a lot of things long past. This morning I pray that we focus our thoughts, efforts and intentions into what lies ahead, and to leave the past where it belongs.

Dear Father God,

Thank You for waking me up, really early this morning. Actually, earlier than I wanted to or planned to be up. I did use this time to sit in silence with You and for You to guide me and hear You.

First, help us to be reflective and to learn from our past. Help us to learn the good and positive things that have happened. May we store those good thoughts and efforts to be able to quickly use them again and again. Times when we forgave quickly, turned the other cheek, counted to 10 really fast a bunch of times, times when we smiled instead of yelled, times when we sat on our hands, instead of making a mean gesture.

Lastly Father, let us be forward thinking, moving and active people. Today is all that we know You will give us. Today, holds enough troubles and worries in itself. If tomorrow comes, we know You will provide for us.

Help us to “let it go.” Remind me that if I won’t remember or care about a thought, and event or a comment weeks from now, I don’t need to care about it that much right now either. Give me the grace, kindness and strength to let go of so many things I make too much of a big things about. Help me to as quickly, lovingly and fully forgive others as You forgive me. I will always need Your forgiveness Father, so help me to forgive as You forgive. In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray and ask these things, Amen.
