Holiday Preparation 11-10-2024

This Sunday morning I look out the window, prepare my heart and mind for church upcoming and think about the date, moving toward mid-November. Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be upon us, and then, quickly the Christmas season. I feel that this year I should plan as much for a spiritual holiday season as an actual physical season. It seems like a season to prepare my heart, heal relationships, make meaningful contributions, include others and reconnect. I pray and share;

Good Morning God,

This morning, much to Your surprise, I’m thinking about doing some planning for the November and December seasons. It’s Veteran’s day tomorrow. The freedoms we have are in due to the brave and dedicated veteran’s who have served and protected our country. Help me to make tomorrow a day of pray and thanks to our veteran’s. Help me to reach out in appreciation too those who served.

This Thanksgiving season, help me to think about others in need. Guide me toward food pantrys and other resources I may contribute to. Help me to create a Thanksgiving where all are welcome and feel appreciated. Create in me a true heart of thanksgiving and make it a call to action for me to help and serve.

Help me to use the next few weeks as preparation for Christmas. I see in church the Christmas tree for families in need. Rather than glancing at the tree, help me to eagerly and gladly grab a few trees and help provide for those in need. When I see the toys for tots boxes, guide me to the store to help fill those boxes to bring joy to the face of children. Help Jesus to soften my heart and greet everyone this upcoming season with the same love, peace and joy he shared with all He met.

In the weeks to come, quiet the noise of the world and help me to hear Your voice. Attune my thoughts with Your thoughts, attune my heart with Your heart. Guide and direct me to a holiday season of giving, forgiving and peace and joy as we all prepare for the birth of Jesus in a few short weeks.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray and ask these things. Please guide my heart and thoughts and prepare me for the joys ahead; Amen.
