Ash Wednesday March 5th 2025

I’ve had a terrible cold the last couple of weeks that has really sapped my strength….and my patience and good cheer. I’m not sure I passed the test on keeping up my attitude and everything else. I’m sure I’ll get another try.

Also, I have been doing very well at reading the bible cover to cover in one year. I am reading sections that I likely have never read, and if I did, it was long ago and I don’t remember.

I did pray a lot today for Ash Wednesday and saw and read some really good articles. One thought I held on to was that the average person gets to experience 4160 Sundays. It caught my attention that 4160 doesn’t sound like a very big number. That is the days most of us get to worship and offer praise and thanksgiving in church. I pray to make sure I make the most of them and maybe add some extra days as well. I pray and share;

Dear Heavenly Father,

As Lent officially begins today, I have been praying and trying to get my heart and mind ready to make good use of these 40 days. Please soften my heart to better hear Your Word and too put it into service. Also, if You bless me with 4160 Sundays, let me fully devote myself on those precious days to spend time in Your comfort and healing. Help my worship and prayer time to be without distraction and worry, and to be in Your presence.

Also, I know in my heart that is not enough days to seek You in prayer and worship. Give me the discipline and strength to make that number…. 7 times 70 more that You make guide, direct and comfort me. Now that I have really felt how little time we have hear, let us not waste and days nor take them for granted. In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray and ask these things; Amen.
