Spiritual House Cleaning 11-26-2024

The last couple of days, I have been through my closets several times. With the cold weather approaching, it’s time to put away some shorts and T-shirts and dig out some warmer items. In this process however, I also started making a pile of things to take to Good Will for the needy in colder weather. Then, somehow in the process, I decided to take a deeper look at what was still in my closet. What items don’t look so good on me? What have I physically outgrown? What have I emotionally outgrown? What just doesn’t reflect who I am and where I’m at anymore in my life?

So, if it’s a good exercise my my closets, it’s also likely a good exercise for my soul? I pray and share:

Dear Father God,

This morning I call upon You to awaken my soul and spirit to Your wisdom and Your calling. Please help me remove both, the physical and the spiritual clutter in my life, those things that can keep me away from You.

Please help me to remove any negative thoughts, feelings and attitudes that do not reflect Your goodness and Jesus’ teachings. Please help me to remove all and any anger or resentment in my life. I want and need to be rid and outgrown of these. It’s too difficult to have both anger and love and joy in my heart.

Please help me to remove jealousy, envy and longing for more from the recesses of my heart. I can’t be who You aspire me to be clinging to more with jealousy in my heart. Help me to spiritually lift up these negative thoughts and feelings and place them in a bag to be given up to You. Please take these things I place into Your hands and lay at Your feet. I no longer chose to hang onto them and they no longer fit.

Lastly, help me along this journey and allow me to honestly and spiritually take a deep look at what I no longer need to hang onto. Also, You know best what will serve me and I am weak and selfish at times and will surely try to hang onto things that need to go. Please, let me hear Your voice over the next days to help me on this purging. Along with the purge, I pray that You fill me with all I need in their place.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray and ask these things; Amen.
