Balance 11-5-2024

I started reading a book yesterday by Jonathan Haiat, entitled; “The Anxious Generation.” I would highly recommend it for parents of children turning toward puberty. The central theme of the book evolves around what has smart phones, the internet and social media has and is doing to the future of our children.

The biggest take away I have come away with so far is we all need balance and moderation, in all we do, in all we eat, in all we say and are exposed to. This morning I pray for balance and moderation.

Dear Heavenly Father,

This morning I come to you in need of guidance, and wisdom for us all. I pray for Your grace to help us to make decisions based on balance and moderation.

Perhaps, all families need to start with more time in prayer and in church. Please speak to the hearts of parents and grandparents that prayer and church attendance will once more be a core staple of American life. Let our children grow up in the Bible and get a solid core belief in Your Word and Your promises. Help them to know and love Jesus.

Give parents the time, energy, selflessness and determination to be involved active parents. Help them to guide their children in outside play, in school and church activities and allow them to be children as in the days gone by. Help them to find balance in keeping them safe and still allowing them to live, learn and explore.

Also, help parents and leaders navigate the complicated world of technology. We all know of the shift toward technology in all we do and that technology has become a core component of education for future generations. Give parents the strength, courage and patience to truly be their children’s, first, best and foremost educator. Help the determine appropriate limits for technology use and access. Help them to strike a balance between all things and all parts of childhood and adolescence.

Lastly, father, help families build strong ties between each other. This loving relationships are essential in the success and balance of future generations. Bless out thoughts, actions and intentions as we seek to raise children who love the Lord and will lead us into the futre.

In the mighty Name of Jesus I pray and ask these things; Amen.
